JOB TITLE: Student Support Specialist

REPORTS TO: Campus Director

WAGE / HOUR STATUS: Non-exempt / Full Time 12 Months

ANNUAL SALARY:  Per the 2023-2024 Salary Pay Scale 

 

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Use a planning process to define the needs and priorities of population served; coordinate and implement all the district, state and federal mandated assessments, and programmatic testing for the campus as assigned by the district; serve as the campus 504 coordinator and assist the Special Education Director with referrals to special education.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Associate’s degree (minimum of 60 earned college credit hours), Bachelor’s degree preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Experience Two years of experience in student services or related positions, preferred Experience in an educational organization, preferred.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.Provide direct student services.
2. Meets regularly with campus admin, teachers, and other staff as necessary to discuss student services.

3.Address the immediate concerns of students.
4. Participate in parent meetings in conjunction with campus admin team.
5. Coordinate presentations on bullying, dating violence, risky behaviors in conjunction with the CIS and PES.
6. Work with school personnel and parents to obtain resources for students.
7. Assessment (Under the guidance of the District Testing Coordinator and in coordination with the Campus Director)
8. Participate in planning and evaluation of campus testing program.
9. Assist with appropriate behavioral interventions.
10. Plan and coordinate all levels of standardized testing which includes, but is not limited to, providing all required campus training for standardized assessments, accommodations, supplemental aids, and other supports, and ensuring testing security.
11. Responsible for the organization, implementation, verification, collection, and distribution of materials for all assessments.
12. Adhere to testing procedures and deadlines set by the District Testing Coordinator.
13. Maintain databases and files as assigned by the Campus Director and District Testing Coordinator.
14. Assist with investigating and preparing reports for reported test irregularities and report those to the District Testing coordinator.
15. Serve as a resource person to Campus Directors and teachers to meet the instructional needs of students as it pertains to testing.
16. Convey testing procedures and regulations for campus personnel as relayed by the District Testing Coordinator.
17. Attend all assessment trainings as directed by the Campus Director and District Testing Coordinator.
18. Serve as a liaison between Campus Director and the District Testing Coordinator for proper implementation of assessment guidelines and criteria.
19. Responsible for campus testing documentation compliance.
20. Responsible for the integrity and security of all assessments.
21. Monitor teachers, staff, and students during state and local assessments.

22. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations including strict adherence to timeliness with attendance and meeting deadlines.

23. Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.

24. Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.

25. Create and review student schedules.

26. Assist in the development of a comprehensive campus master schedule in collaboration with the Campus Director to meet the needs of the students.

27. Assist in the auditing of grades and dispensation of progress reports and report cards.

28. Create and present various teacher/staff trainings as requested.

29. Model behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.

30. Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.

31. Promote staff morale.
32. Perform other duties as assigned.

Standard office equipment including personal computers and peripherals including specialized equipment that is particularly unique to the assignment.

ABOUT BOB HOPE SCHOOL
Bob Hope School is a growing open-enrollment public charter school (non-profit) providing parents a choice in their child's education.  Bob Hope Elementary is a Montessori / Dual-Language campus.  Instruction is conducted in a two-way immersion program, where teachers fluent in English teach ELA and those fluent in Spanish teach SLA and are supported by teacher aides with a strong command of both languages. Campuses are located in Port Arthur, Beaumont, and Baytown, Texas.  The Hughen Center, Inc. is the charter holder of Bob Hope School.
