PRIMARY PURPOSE

The primary purpose of this position is to enroll assigned grade level students, maintain and file accurate PEIMS records and student demographic in the system, as well as accurate file documentation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:

  • Minimum of 60 college credit hours from an accredited educational institution; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Knowledge of computer technology terms and data entry/processing
  • Become knowledgeable of District policies and procedures, state regulations concerning enrollment, residential requirements, and credit requirements
  • Become knowledgeable of student records and PEIMS (TSDS) data collection
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators, and others
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

 

Language Skills:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Able to communicate with faculty, staff and administrators in a courteous and professional manner

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

 

1. Responsible for pre-registration, registration and online registration.

2. Responsible for maintaining and updating Academic Achievement Records/cumulative records for students.

3. Assists in assembling diplomas for graduation.

4. Assists in archiving of all grades.

5. Assists in preparing and completing letters and forms related to student enrollment for various governmental agencies.

6. Verifies and issues residence checks on new students with improper identification.

7. Collects and inputs all PEIMS data in areas of demographics, and leavers.

8. Issues and processes applications for placement, waiting lists, and denials of magnet schools; contact schools and parents with results.

9. Requests student records from sending schools and disseminates to appropriate personnel.

10. Assists in preparing and completing the progress report process at the half-way point of each grading period and mailing these reports home.

11. Assists in preparing and completing the report card process at the end of each grading period and mailing these reports home.

12. Attend occasional after school and Saturday events.

13. Assists with processing of transfers.

14. Assists with transfers and withdrawals of students.

15. Assists with the production of transcripts, upon request.

16. Processes records requests received from other districts and through TxEIS.

17. Verifies student TEA numbers upon enrollment.

18. Assist with maintaining files, copying and filing.

19. Performs other duties as assigned.

Equipment Used: 
Computer with appropriate software, printer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine.

ABOUT BOB HOPE SCHOOL
Bob Hope School is a growing open-enrollment public charter school (non-profit) providing parents a choice in their child's education.  Bob Hope Elementary is a Montessori / Dual-Language campus.  Instruction is conducted in a two-way immersion program, where teachers fluent in English teach ELA and those fluent in Spanish teach SLA and are supported by teacher aides with a strong command of both languages. Campuses are located in Port Arthur, Beaumont, and Baytown, Texas.  The Hughen Center, Inc. is the charter holder of Bob Hope School.
