Pay Grade: 2024-2025 Hourly Aide Pay Scale 

 

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  

Facilitate a safe and orderly school environment by supervising and monitoring campus(s) assigned. Aid in establishing participation in monitoring and patrolling campus hallways and parking lots, and participate in other incidents that monitor students, staff, and property.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

 

Education:  

High School Diploma or GED  

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:  

Ability to withstand working outside for long periods of time. 

Ability to operate safely and adaptive equipment. 

Able to remain flexible and adapt to changing demands. 

Strong public relations, communication, and organizations skills 

Ability to accurately assess emergency situations. 

Ability to remain calm under pressure; respond calmly and quickly in dangerous situations. 

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. 

  

 

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES  

 

  • Monitor campus parking and traffic regulations as needed. 
  • Monitor the school campus(s) authorized by the Administration and report problems to administration. 
  • Collect and act on administrative and safety requests. 
  • Assist with student pick up line and drop off dismissal line. 
  • Report students who endanger themselves or other to administration. 
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the Campus Director. 
  • Be a positive role model for students; support mission of school district. 
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.  
  • Understanding the campus monitor does not function as police or as agents of the police, administer school discipline, place their hands on students, except to prevent injuries to themselves or others, or interrogate or search students without an administrator present. 
  • Encourage students to meet acceptable standards of classroom behavior as defined in the Student Code of Conduct 
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members. 
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. 
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. 
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. 
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. 
  • Maintain regular attendance. 
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues concerning academic, attendance, and behavioral progress of students. 
  • Check and respond to e-mail and voice mail daily. 
  • Maintain records as required by law and district policy. 
  • Uphold and enforce all school policies and state regulations. 
  • Maintain confidentiality. Does not discuss children or their families outside of the school. 
  • Attending and participate in committee, team, departmental, faculty, and district meetings as required. 
  • Adapt to changing demands by planning, preparing, and adjusting instruction for distance learning. 
  • Assist in review of video surveillance after incidents. 
  • Assist in locker/student search of materials not permitted in school campus; assists with investigation of student disturbances and refer to administration for further investigation and record keeping. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Standard office equipment including personal computers and peripherals including specialized equipment that is particularly unique to the assignment.

ABOUT BOB HOPE SCHOOL
Bob Hope School is a growing open-enrollment public charter school (non-profit) providing parents a choice in their child's education.  Bob Hope Elementary is a Montessori / Dual-Language campus.  Instruction is conducted in a two-way immersion program, where teachers fluent in English teach ELA and those fluent in Spanish teach SLA and are supported by teacher aides with a strong command of both languages. Campuses are located in Port Arthur, Beaumont, and Baytown, Texas.  The Hughen Center, Inc. is the charter holder of Bob Hope School.
